The School of Management aspires to bring academic excellence to its international students by periodically recognizing their academic efforts and achievements. The school performs an annual evaluation of student’s performance and activities, and subsequently award excelling students with financial scholarships.

The scholarship is in two folds: The first level scholarship comes with a certificate of recognition and a cash amount of RMB 4000. Students in this category should and must have published in a journal indexed by Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) or Science Citation Index (SCI).

The second level scholarship also comes with a certificate of recognition and a cash amount of RMB 2000. Students in this category should and must have published in at most four (4) internationally indexed journals. The final list of awardees, however, depends on the number of applicants and the number of students who have been able to published in SSCI/SCI journals.

This year, 2019, the management scholarship awarding ceremony which has now become a tradition was held on the 20^th of December, 2019 for the 2018/2019 academic year. The program was held in the Sanjiang building at 10:30am in room 1519.

It was well attended by the Dean of School of Management, Prof. Du Jianguo, the Deputy Director of International Education Center, Associate Prof. Zhiwe Li (Owen), scholarship winners and PG students.

The PG leader for school of management, Oswin Aganda Anaba welcomed the Dean and other dignitaries after which he stated the purpose of ceremony.

The Dean, Prof Jianguo Du gave the first speech in which he encouraged students to keep on writing quality papers that will be published in journals indexed by SSCI and SCI. He also admonished the students who were not able to get this year’s scholarship not to give up but continue to believe and write more for their future development.

After the Dean’s speech, one of the award winners for the 2018/2019 academic year Miss Claudia Nyarko Mensah shared her experience of getting her published paper to be indexed by SSCI. She stated that it was not an easy task but with persistence the impossible became possible. She added that no matter the number of times your paper is rejected never should one think of giving up. She concluded by inspiring all students to continue to share ideas and give critical critique when the need arises because by sharing, students will be able to overcome individual shortcomings and improve upon what they already know at individual levels.

After the experience sharing, Prof. Du and Assoc. Prof. Owen introduced the award winners by calling the winners and congratulating them.

For the first time this year, the Management school recognized the efforts by some students who facilitated workshops and seminars during the first semester. They were given certificates of appreciation in honor of their individual roles they have played in the school of management.

The vote of thanks was given by Wisdom W.K. Pomegbe, who was also an award winner.
