Time with the dean and scholarship awarding ceremony for school of management was held on the 15^th of November, 2018 for the 2017/2018 academic year. The program was held in theSanjiangbuilding at 10am in room 1519. It was well attended by the Dean, school of management, the director for International students’ center, PG leaders. Scholarship winners and PG students.

The PG leader for school of management, Ann Dodor welcomed the Dean and other dignitaries after which she stated the purpose of gathering.

The Dean, Prof Jianguo Du gave the first speech in which he encouraged students to write papers that will be indexed by SSCI and SCI because the school is considering a prize of 3,000 and 2.000 respectively for students who are able to publish in SSCI and SCI Journals.

After the Dean’s speech, one of the award winners for the 2017/1018 academic year Mr. Thomas Udimal shared his experience of getting his published paper to be index by SSCI (social science citation index). He iterated that,he had opportunities to collaborate with many smart people. He emphasized that though a few people are receiving the scholarship, the journey to the attainment of the award has not been an individual effort. He ended by encouraging all students to continue to share ideas and give critical critique when the need arises because by sharing students will be able to overcome individual shortcomings and improve upon what they already know at individual levels.

After the experience sharing by Thomas, the PG leader for management gave a presentation on the criteria for the selection of students for the award. She pointed out that, the assessment is made based on academic scores, papers published and supervisors’ project that the student is involved in. She also indicated that, there are two levels for the award. Level onewinnersreceive 4000RMBwhile level twowinnersget 2000 RMB.

Finally, Prof. Owen introduced the award winners after the PG leader’s presentation by calling the winners and congratulating them. Vote of thanks was given by Claudia Nyarko, who was also an award winner.
