By 8.30 on Friday 21^st September, 2018, fresh PG students gathered for an orientation program by school of management. After an introduction of the event by Ann Dodor, the PG leader for management who hosted the program; Professor Owen the Deputy Director for International Education Center (IEC) gave the first speech.

Prof. Owen started by giving a brief history of Jiangsu University (JU) which dates back from 1992 with more than 100 years history. He iterated that the School of Management of Jiangsu University was founded in 1982 with 7 departments, 8 research institutions, over 130 faculties, with degrees ranging from Bachelor, Masters and PhD level, and also have an MBA & MPA education. He indicated that "Management Science and Engineering" was rated as a key discipline of Jiangsu province with "Business Administration" and "Public Administration (Medical Insurance)" respectively being selected as brand and characteristic specialty program of Jiangsu province. The Management Science and Engineering according to Prof. Owen have 5 directions and MBA programs in 9 professional directions, namely: Business Management of SMEs, Enterprise Strategic Management, Enterprise Human Resource Management, Enterprise Marketing, Enterprise Operation Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, International Business Management, and Information Management. He concluded that, School of Management mission statement is todevelop and disseminate Chinese style management thought and scienceand that, the SME College that is affiliated with the SOM is the only one throughout the country.

After Prof. Owen’s presentation, the PG leader for management explained to the students how to go through registration process online. She enlightened students on study plan sheet, the school calendar, Time table and Academic record card. She also outlined the program for the semester as follows: Experience Sharing, Mentoring, seminars and symposiums.

The last speaker was Mr. Kingsley Appiah, who is the leader for all PG leaders. He basically focused on Research work on campus which is mandatory for all students.In his speech, Mr. Kingsley urged his colleagues to start working on their publications because it takes a long time for journals to review the research work. He advised the students to pay attention to the scope of a journal before sending a paper. He also counsel students or colleagues to be careful with what they discuss or comment on various platforms but rather direct all their concerns to their leaders for redress.
